District 15 - Marshall area

CO Levi Brown (Benson) monitored boating and fishing activity in his station. Over the weekend, the Appleton OHV Park hosted an OHM race with nearly 400 racers. Brown patrolled the park ensuring park rules were being followed. Brown spoke to some riders and spectators, reminding them that helmets are required for ATV riders under the age of 18.

CO Mason Bulthuis (Madison) split time between a variety of activities this week including turkey hunting, angling, and boating enforcement. Bulthuis also fielded questions on a variety of topics ranging from hunting regulations to public land laws. With opening fishing approaching next weekend, Bulthuis encourages anglers to familiarize themselves with 2024?s updated fishing regulations before hitting the water.

CO Dallas Cornell (Ortonville) spent the week checking shore anglers along the Minnesota River. Cornell also assisted with the Deputy Boating School held at Camp Ripley. He gave a laws and ethics talk at an ATV safety class in Montevideo. Cornell also patrolled the Appleton ORV Park along with other conservation officers and Swift County Sheriff?s deputies during the Border Battle XC OHM event.

CO Matt Loftness (Marshall) spent the week working fishing, boating, ATV, state park, and turkey hunting enforcement. Along with other DNR employees, a career fair was attended in Minneota. The law and ethics portion of firearm safety classes were taught in Clarkfield and Tracy. Assistance was also given with an ATV safety class.

CO Dustin Roemeling (Worthington) spent the week working angling and recreational vehicle enforcement. He continued follow-up investigations from prior hunting seasons. Roemeling spoke at a local firearm safety class about the laws and ethics of hunting. Assistance was given to local agencies.

CO Shawn Wichmann (Slayton) spent the week checking area anglers, turkey hunters, and monitoring ATV traffic. He also checked area anglers and prepared equipment for the upcoming walleye opener. Recent rain has helped raise local river and lake levels.
