District 16 - New Ulm area

CO Shane Vernier (Willmar-West) spent time working angling and ATV activity. He spoke on a local radio show called ?Conservation Conversation? about the upcoming fishing opener and boat and water safety. Vernier also assisted with an OHM/ATV detail in Swift County.

CO Cassie Block (Willmar-East) spent time this week checking anglers on area lakes. Efforts were focused on enforcing fishing and boating regulations. Block responded to various TIP and complaint calls as well.

CO Nicholas Klehr (Litchfield) assisted with Deputy Boating School at Camp Ripley during the week. Other time was spent checking anglers, boat and water safety, and AIS enforcement. A firearm safety class was also attended in Darwin where CO Klehr talked with the kids about laws and ethics of hunting and answered questions they had.

CO Brett Wiltrout (Hutchinson-West) spent time this week working sport fishing and ATVs. Other time was spent assisting the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with a local case. The end of the week saw an increase in turkey hunters and boating on area lakes.

CO Zachary Larson (Hutchinson-East) gave ATV enforcement training to the Sibley County Sheriff's Office this past week. Patrol efforts were focused on shore fishing and turkey hunting activities. A commercial taxidermy inspection was also completed.

CO Thor Nelson (New Ulm) received bowfishing complaints and answered fishing and hunting law clarification questions. He worked mostly fishing, boating, invasive species, and ATV enforcement activities. Weather patterns made for difficult fishing again this week.

CO Luke Gutzwiller (Windom) spent time this past week working angling enforcement as well as following up with ongoing investigations. K9 Earl assisted with multiple evidence-related searches. Assistance was also given to local law enforcement with calls throughout the week.

CO Eric Schettler (Fairmont) taught the rules and regulations portion of the Fairmont firearms safety class to 22 students. Attendance was made at the Sherburn DU Greenwings event where the importance of life jackets was talked about to around 80 youth. Anglers were checked and public accesses were patrolled.
