District 17 - Albert Lea area

CO Nicholas Ambroz (Waseca) focused on angling, boating and turkey hunting activity. Ambroz reminds anglers and boaters to review updated regulations as the 2024 fishing opener is fast approaching.

CO Tyler Lusignan (Faribault) reports checking turkey hunters and checking anglers on local lakes. Lusignan is investigating a hunting complaint.

CO Jamie VanThuyne (Mankato #1) focused on boating and recreational vehicle activity. VanThuyne also checked anglers and turkey hunters.

CO Corey Wiebusch (Mankato #2) assisted with watercraft training at Deputy Boating School at Camp Ripley this past week. Time was spent on the water promoting boat and water safety. Angling and ATV activity was also worked.

CO Meng Moua (Spring Valley) focused on fishing and turkey hunting activities. Trout anglers continue to report good fishing with water levels remaining in good condition. The turkeys in the area continue to be in full strut and chasing hens.

CO Chad Davis (Owatonna) checked anglers, boaters, trappers, turkey hunters, and ATV operators. Davis assisted a neighboring officer with a fishing Turn in Poachers (TIP) call that resulted in several citations issued. Davis patrolled aquatic management areas, wildlife management areas, state parks, waterfowl production areas, and responded to calls.

CO Jeremy Henke (Albert Lea) worked angling enforcement this week. Numerous TIP complaints of snagging and taking overlimits were investigated and resulted in enforcement action. Henke thanks those who use the TIP program. People also can contact Henke directly to report illegal activity.
